This is a class act zoom. It's the last series made without the Vibration Reduction feature. The big aperture makes for the need of bigger glass to allow more light, so the lens is heavier than a slower equivalent.

Adds for nice perspective and some opportunity for anonymity from the subject (if the subject doesn't see you carrying such a huge lens.)
